[Rameau] Théâtre de marionnettes -- Aspect politique -- CoréeRésumé : 'Namdo Deulnorae' is one of Korean traditional labour songs transmitted to Jindo, the island which locates in the far south of this peninsular.Despite its somewhat sorrowful tne, this song is characteristic for its simple latent power of expressing not only people's joys and sorrows but also pure wish for the better future.
Shim Woo -sung has reconstructed this 'Namdo Deulnorae' into a mime to disclose Korean people's sense of community membership containged in their rooted native faith and outstanding dramatic quality of the song, as a result of his consistent experimentations on a monodrama without dialogue. Therfore, his puppets and instruments, big or small, are the ones actually being used in Korean shaman rituals today, so are his gestures and dancing movements. As for the music, he uses recent Korean pop songs as well as classical music to hint the situation in his drama as the present social one of our country.
The story develops a traditional funeral ceremony for the young man who died miserably when he was participating in a demonstration for the unification of South and North Korea. Shim Woo-sung's aim of this drama, as the subject indicates, is to make us reconsider the political situation of his land beyond the ideologies of South and North, and be fredd from such tragedy.Note de contenu : Spectacle filmé en public à l'occasion du Korean, Japan Perfomance Festival.
